Scout training scheme wins national award
The Scout Association has been recognised by the National Training Awards for the quality of the training it offers adult volunteers across the Country.
At an awards ceremony in the Banqueting Hall, Westminster in Central London, The Scout Association was praised for the design, volunteer management and impact of the training it offers and for the number of adults who benefit from the scheme each year.
The Scout Association won both a London Regional Award and National Award, coming top in the ‘Providing Education and Training’ category and beating off competition from a wide range of other organisations from the corporate, public and third sectors.
The judging process included the submission of written information alongside visits by the judging panel to meet a number of volunteers involved with the design and management of the scheme, including Paul Fix, County Training Manager for Greater London North East Scout County and Donna Kerrigan, The Scout Association's UK Adviser (Adult Training).
The awards are a really important acknowledgement of all the hard work put in across the Country by County Training Managers and their teams.
Melissa Green of The Scout Association said, 'We'd like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Country and County Training Managers. We know it can often seem like a thankless task, but the quality of the training and the experience of new leaders underpins everything we do in Scouting.'
And the good news doesn’t stop there. By winning a National Award in The Scout Association will now be considered for ‘Winner of the Year’. This will be announced in December…so watch this space!
