scouts gear up to run Christmas Post - 01-12-2008

Scouts will be giving postmen a run for their money next month as they gear up for their annual Christmas Post.

The 23rd Didcot Sea Scouts, along with other groups in the area, will deliver bundles of Christmas cards to homes all over the town and surrounding villages throughout December, including Harwell, Chilton and the Hagbournes.

Cards can be dropped in specially designed post boxes at the Tesco superstore, Tesco Express at Cockcroft, Co-op stores in Ladygrove and Wantage Road, K&K News in Brasenose Road, Wilkinsons in Market Place, Clothes for Children/Didcot Sports in Broadway, Cargo in Orchard Centre, Blue Grit on Mereland Road, and Willowbrook leisure centre, Bowmont Water.

They will be sorted according to road name at a makeshift sorting office before they are dropped on hundreds of doormats by the young people, their parents and Scout Leaders.

Scouts request a minimum donation of 15p per card, which pays for activities for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts throughout the year. Cards can be posted in the boxes between December 1 and 18 and delivery before Christmas in gauranteed.
