Beavers
Soon after starting at my Colony, they went on a weekend camp with Beavers from all over Oxfordshire in Banbury with the theme being “circus”, Mum and Dad came too, it was really good fun. I meet even more new friends. I also got two new badges to wear on my uniform. A night’s away and a special Big Top Beaver Hop Badge which one of the beavers had designed in a competition. As well as our weekly meetings we have been on a number of Didcot District events, Tailslappers where we all go swimming and get a t-shirt, it’s cool. We were also invited to a District Christmas Party where I meet some of the Beavers from the Beaver Hop and Tailslappers. Its nice see them again a find out what they have been doing. There was also a Sing-a-long-a-Santa, held at Youlbury Scout Campsite in Oxford. Our Leaders are really fab at our meetings and do lots of cooking Stir fry, pancakes and lakey cakes. We made sweets for mother’s day and cards for father’s day along with keyrings, my Dad really loved his presents. We make lots of things and have our own Colony flag with all our handprints on. Some of our meetings are not held at the Scout hall, we have been to see Didcot Fire station and had a go with the fire hoses, knocking down the cones. Abingdon Police Station was the best as we got locked in the back of a police van. The policeman did let us back out after he put the sirens on. We have also gone to Whittenham Clumps on a trail evening. We have also been looking for different animals and where they live. Sometimes we have a Group meeting, which is when the Cubs and the Scouts meet at the same time as us. We do things in teams and work together; this is when we are given our new badges. As a Group we go on family camp again where our whole family can go, we cook together and sing round the campfire in the evening we play games in the dark and get to stay up late, we toasted marshmallows in the fire which where really yummy. I am looking forward to going to Cubs soon but will miss Beavers. I am so glad that mum said it would be a good idea to go along. I’m going to make even more new friends, and meet up with some old ones that were Beavers too. | Events: CPCW/CESAW 2008![]() Oxfordshire’s County Patrol Camping Weekend is a fun weekend camp where you are in charge of what you do!
